How do I become a member of Express CU?

It’s easy to become a member of Express Credit Union – if you live, work, worship, or attend school in Washington State you are eligible to join. The first step in becoming a member is completing a membership application, by either speaking with one of our Community Tellers, applying online, or by scheduling an appointment to open an account at our main branch.  In order to open an ECU account you will need:

  • A current and valid government-issued photo identification card from the United States or Mexico
  • A social security number or taxpayer identification number (ITIN) issued in the United States.
  • A minimum of $5 to open a savings account
  • Acceptable proof of current WA State residency *for details please contact a Community Teller

How much does it cost for me to become a member?

You can open a savings account with a minimum of $5, which has to stay in the account at all times. There is no monthly fee for a savings. Once a member, you may have access to other savings accounts, checking accounts, and low-cost loans.

How can I apply for a loan?

Express offers many types of loans to fit your specific needs. There are 3 ways you can apply for a loan:

  • You can complete the loan application online*. A loan officer will contact you after the application has been submitted.
  • You can pick up and complete a loan application at our main branch
  • You can schedule a time to meet with one of our Community Teller at the office of one of our nonprofit partner. For a list of the locations to find out which is closest to you click here.

My card was lost or stolen – what should I do?

If you think your card has been lost or stolen, during normal business hours immediately call Express Credit Union at 206-622-1850. We will cancel the account number and we’ll reorder you a new card right away. After regular business hours call: 1-800-682-6075.

What are Express Credit Union’s current rates on loans?

How do I sign up for online account access?

To sign up for e*Teller, our online banking service, click here. You will receive a response via e-mail once your account is ready for online access giving you the log-in ID and first-time password.

How do I reset my password?

To reset your password please call us.

How can I check my account balance?

You can check your account balance several different ways.

    • The best way is to sign up for and use e*Teller online banking, you can have access to your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can check your account balance, balance your checking account and transfer funds.
    • Express CU Mobile App!  Once you have activated your e*Teller online banking account you can use the Express CU mobile app for Apple and Android smart phones.
    • You can call a Community Teller between 10AM and 4PM Monday through Friday and we’ll be happy to help you.  However, for your account security you will be required to correctly answer personal and security word questions before we can provide any account information.

Call 206-622-2085 for our automated teller system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is online banking via e*Teller and Mobile App safe?

Yes, online and mobile banking are a safe and convenient ways to access your account. There are a couple of things to remember when you use online and mobile banking. First, do not share your Login Ids or passwords with anyone. Always protect your account numbers, card numbers and PINs (personal identification numbers) and never keep your PIN with your Debit Card. Also, never share your information with someone over the phone or through email – Express CU has all of your account information and will never ask you for your account number or PIN over the phone or by email. If you suspect unauthorized activity has occurred on your account, please contact us immediately at 206-622-1850.

How do I sign up for our online bill pay service iPay?

Once you have your e*Teller set up, you can access and sign up for Bill Pay, our online bill pay service. It is free for the first three months, then, if you have three or more transactions each month it stays free! IF you have less than three transactions per month, the charge is $6.95/month.

The main office of Express Credit Union is located just south of downtown Seattle on 4th Avenue. Our address is 1930 6th Avenue South, Suite 104, Seattle WA 98134.

What is the difference between a credit union and a bank?

Banks and credit unions are financial institutions that help people keep their money safe. Although the services (checking and savings accounts, loans, etc.) that each offers are similar, there are several differences between the two types of financial institutions.

What is a Community Member Service Representative?

Community Tellers (CTs) bring Express Credit Union services to your neighborhood. CTs maintain regular hours at local community based organizations and can help you become a member of the credit union, enroll for direct deposit, apply for a loan, and refer you to a financial education class. What are the locations and hours of Express CU’s satellite offices?

Our Community Tellers maintain regular hours at the offices of 8 nonprofit organizations in King County. Members can schedule appointments or drop by the office of these Member Service Reps. How can I find out about financial education classes?

We believe that financial education is a core part of our mission to help our members build assets and financial stability. Through our community partners we offer a variety of financial education classes that are free to members of Express CU. Classes cover a variety of topics like how to build a budget, use credit cards wisely, or establish good credit.
Classes are held at different nonprofit community centers around King County. They are taught by experienced teachers who provide you the opportunity to learn at your own pace. For a complete list of classes, including the location and dates/times, visit our Financial Education pages.

What is Shared Branching?

Shared Branching is a unique benefit that many credit unions provide to their members, and Express is excited to offer it to our members who qualify for the service. Credit unions that participate in the Shared Branching network agree to handle financial transitions for members of other participating credit unions with no added fee. For example, Express Credit Union members can deposit a check at the branch of another credit union like BECU. BECU processes the transaction on our behalf; your money stays safe and is directly deposited into your account at Express. It is a safe and very convenient way to have access to your money. Which ATMs can I use?

Express Credit Union members can use ATMs that bear the CO-OP logo, which looks like this:

ATMs that bear that logo are part of a wide network that allows members of credit unions to use ATMs for free. Through this network, you have access to ATMs that are owned and operated by other credit unions, such as BECU – giving you access to several hundred ATMs in the Puget Sound area alone. Nationwide, there are nearly 30,000 ATMs that are part of the CO-OP network, which means you’ll always have quick and convenient access to your money. To locate an ATM near you visit the CO-OP website*.
